Comparison

Laevitas vs SmartMoneyAPI

Laevitas and SmartMoneyAPI solve different problems. Laevitas is a real-time options and volatility analytics platform you read. SmartMoneyAPI is a pre-trade confirmation layer your bot calls before it enters — one request returns CONFIRM, REDUCE, or SKIP. This page is an honest look at when to use which.

Who each is for

Laevitas. Laevitas is a real-time options and derivatives analytics platform: option chains and flows, Greeks, a proprietary volatility surface, term structure, funding, open interest and order-book snapshots. Its dashboard claims 15+ exchanges and 1,000+ assets; its documented API v2 covers 5 major derivatives venues (Binance, Deribit, OKX, Bybit, Hyperliquid) via REST, WebSocket, an MCP server, and pay-per-request x402 access. It is built for options and volatility specialists.

SmartMoneyAPI. A decision-support API for automated crypto strategies. Your bot already has a candidate direction; one call to /v1/confirm checks it against derivatives, funding, open interest, whale consensus and on-chain context, then returns a single action your code can branch on. It does not place orders — you stay in control of execution and risk.

Descriptions of Laevitas are our neutral summary of a third-party product, sourced from their own site on 2026-09-23, and may change; check their site for current capabilities. This is not a claim that SmartMoneyAPI is better overall — it is a different, lighter, decision-focused tool.

The honest wedge

Laevitas is the real-time options and volatility specialist here: Greeks, a vol surface, term structure and native WebSocket streaming, which SmartMoneyAPI does not attempt — our options coverage is limited to BTC/ETH put/call ratio, max pain and open interest by strike. We do not claim a price-gap advantage here: Laevitas’s x402 pay-per-request path gives REST access with no seat and no account at $0.001 per call ($0.10 per 100), so its entry cost can be far lower than its $50/mo seat price suggests. We found no whale-positioning product on Laevitas’s homepage or API v2 docs, so we describe that as not something they list. The difference that holds up: we are a flat monthly subscription with fixed daily/per-minute caps; Laevitas is per-seat or per-call USDC; and /v1/confirm blends derivatives, whale consensus and on-chain context into one bounded action with a published null result. For an options-heavy strategy, Laevitas is the better tool — say so plainly.

What the confirmation call looks like

Your strategy produces a candidate direction; this single call validates it before you send the order.

confirm.py
import os, requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.smartmoneyapi.com/v1/confirm",
    params={"symbol": "BTC", "direction": "long", "source": "my-bot"},
    headers={"X-API-Key": os.environ["SMA_API_KEY"]},
    timeout=10,
)
sig = r.json()

if sig["action"] in ("CONFIRM_FULL", "CONFIRM_REDUCED"):
    qty = 0.01 * sig["size_mult"]   # HIGH -> CONFIRM, MEDIUM -> REDUCE
    # ... your code places (or sizes down) the order
else:  # CONFIRM_MINIMAL, VETO_SKIP, or NO_DATA_SKIP
    pass # market context does not support this trade, or the symbol has no data yet

action is one of five values — CONFIRM_FULL, CONFIRM_REDUCED, CONFIRM_MINIMAL, VETO_SKIP, or NO_DATA_SKIP (no derivatives or whale data exists for the symbol at all — deliberately not the same as “we looked and it’s bad”). We publish the model’s own out-of-sample result on the /v1/confirm page: derivatives, whale and combined signals all landed in the 49–52% band in leakage-free walk-forward testing — a coin flip. /v1/confirm still blends the signal, because it is a bounded pre-trade check, not a forecast. Full field reference in the API docs.

SmartMoneyAPI publishes one flat number per tier. Laevitas prices per seat for its dashboard tiers, and separately offers no-seat, no-account x402 access at $0.001/request — the cheapest way into either product, depending on call volume. Figures are our best current read of laevitas.ch and apiv2.laevitas.ch/x402 and can change on their side without notice.

Data coverage & asset support

SmartMoneyAPI

  • Derivatives store across 8 venues; the /v1/confirm composite blends 3 of them into one read
  • 16,000+ tracked whale wallets, sourced from a multi-timeframe leaderboard
  • Options flow limited to BTC/ETH: put/call ratio, max pain, open interest by strike
  • On-chain metrics, ETF flows and news/macro intelligence in the same API

Laevitas

  • API v2: a unified surface for 5 venues (Binance, Deribit, OKX, Bybit, Hyperliquid); dashboard marketing claims 15+ exchanges and 1,000+ assets
  • Option chains and flows, Greeks, a proprietary volatility surface, term structure
  • Funding, open interest, liquidations and order-book snapshots
  • Native WebSocket streaming and an MCP server (20+ tools per their homepage) for AI agents

Laevitas goes deep on options and volatility with real-time streaming; SmartMoneyAPI blends derivatives, whale consensus and on-chain context into one bounded trade decision. Pick based on whether your edge is options/vol-driven or directional-derivatives-driven.

Real-time capabilities

Laevitas offers a native WebSocket (or Socket.IO) feed and markets “Real-time Data Updates” on its dashboard; we did not verify an exact latency figure for it. SmartMoneyAPI’s whale events arrive over websocket in roughly a second and the derivatives store refreshes continuously; a full sweep of all 16,000+ tracked wallet positions takes on the order of 5–6 hours. Both products offer a streaming path; the difference is what each stream carries — options/vol data on Laevitas, derivatives-and-whale composite signals on ours.

API design & integration

SmartMoneyAPI is plain REST with a consistent JSON schema, tier-based daily and per-minute caps, and a single bounded decision endpoint. Laevitas API v2 offers REST, a native WebSocket, a proprietary vol-surface API, an MCP server with 20+ tools for AI agents, and x402 pay-per-request in USDC with no account — a broader integration surface if your strategy needs options Greeks or a vol surface rather than one directional decision.

Pros & cons, briefly

SmartMoneyAPI

+ One bounded decision call blending derivatives, whale consensus and on-chain context, flat monthly pricing with a free tier, simpler REST schema

− No options Greeks, vol surface or term structure — our options coverage is limited to BTC/ETH PCR/max pain/OI by strike

Laevitas

+ Deep options/vol analytics (Greeks, vol surface, term structure), native WebSocket streaming, MCP server, no-account x402 access from $0.001/call

− No single bounded pre-trade decision blending derivatives, whale and on-chain signals; dashboard tiers are per-seat above the free plan; no whale-positioning product listed

The verdict

Reach for SmartMoneyAPI if you

  • Trade derivatives/perpetuals directionally and need a pre-trade CONFIRM/REDUCE/SKIP call
  • Want whale consensus and on-chain context blended into that decision
  • Prefer a flat monthly subscription with a free tier over per-seat or per-call pricing

Reach for Laevitas if you

  • Run an options or volatility-driven strategy and need Greeks, a vol surface or term structure
  • Want native WebSocket streaming or MCP-agent access to derivatives data
  • Prefer no-account, pay-per-call access via x402

For an options-heavy strategy, Laevitas is the better tool. Many teams use both: Laevitas for options/vol research, SmartMoneyAPI’s /v1/confirm to gate a directional entry.
